Muscat: As part of a national initiative to promote and preserve Oman’s cultural heritage, the second race of the private sector-supported camel racing series was successfully held today at the Al Sariyah Camel Racing Track.

The event, organised under the supervision of the Oman Camel Racing Federation, featured multiple competitive rounds and highlighted the growing interest in traditional Omani camel sports. It saw the participation of numerous camel owners, riders, and spectators from across the region.

The race is a continuation of efforts to strengthen traditional sports in Oman and support rural economic activities through community engagement and heritage tourism. Today’s event featured a series of competitive rounds, with young and experienced camels competing across various distance categories. Participants demonstrated exceptional skill and preparation, highlighting the growing professionalism within the sport. The event also provided a platform for emerging talent, while emphasizing the importance of maintaining and celebrating this long-standing Omani tradition.

The final race in the current series is scheduled to take place on Thursday at the Hima racing track in the Al Wusta Governorate, concluding this season’s private sector-supported competitions.
