Muscat – The figures indicate a year-on-year decline of 8.6 percent compared to the end of 2023, when market capitalisation reached RO 1.69 trillion (USD 4.4 trillion). The drop reflects a period of fluctuating performance across the region’s financial markets.

The Composite General Index, which measures the overall performance of the GCC financial markets, also recorded a decline. It fell to 165.2 points at the end of June 2024, down from 170.6 points at the end of 2023—a 3.1 percent decrease.

The index had reached its peak in February 2023 at 175.8 points, before gradually falling to a low of 162.4 points by the end of May 2023.
