MUSCAT : In a judgment rendered on Thursday, April 10, 2025, the court found the accused guilty of two misdemeanours. The first charge was related to his involvement in a gathering, and the second was for disseminating information that could harm the state’s reputation.
The court sentenced Talal bin Ahmed bin Ali to one year in prison for each offense and imposed a RO 500 fine for his participation in the gathering. The penalties were ordered to run concurrently, with the more severe sentence being enforced. Additionally, the court ordered that the judgment be published and mandated the accused to cover the legal costs.
The Oman Public Prosecution began its investigation into the accused after receiving reports regarding his involvement in the illegal gathering and the circulation of damaging news. Following the investigation, he was formally charged and referred to the competent court on April 7, 2025.
