Muscat: Teaming up with the Ministry of Commerce, Industry and Investment Promotion and the Ministry of Agriculture, Fisheries and Water Resources, PACP has launched joint inspection campaigns to monitor prices, enforce quality standards, and ensure supplier compliance with market regulations.
The campaign includes routine visits to wholesale and retail outlets, tracking commodity prices, and building a price comparison database to detect unjustified price hikes—particularly during holidays and peak seasons. The team also checks for clear and visible price tags at stores, ensuring transparency and fairness in commercial transactions.
A dedicated market monitoring office has also been established, staffed by specialists focused on maintaining the market’s operations, supporting local farmers, and enforcing food safety and quality standards. This step is part of PACP’s broader mission to enhance transparency, price control, and consumer trust.
