MUSCAT : “In this method, perpetrators create a counterfeit website that closely resembles the official website of the Consumer Protection Authority, with the intent to deceive victims and obtain their personal and banking information, subsequently using these details to withdraw amounts of money from their accounts,” stated the alert from ROP.
The Royal Oman Police strongly advises the public to be vigilant and verify the legitimacy of websites, particularly when sharing sensitive personal information. The authorities have emphasized that the Consumer Protection Authority will never request banking card information during transactions related to its services.
