LAHORE : The decision, announced on March 2, 2025, marks Pakistan’s return to the international football fold.

The breakthrough came after the PFF’s extraordinary congress in Lahore on February 29, where members voted to adopt the required amendments. This fulfilled the condition set by FIFA, which had imposed the latest suspension on February 6, 2025, due to governance issues.

“The Bureau of the FIFA Council decided on 2 March 2025 to lift the suspension that was imposed on the Pakistan Football Federation (PFF) on 6 February 2025,” FIFA said in an official statement.

Pakistan’s football body has faced multiple suspensions in recent years due to third-party interference. FIFA had previously banned the PFF in 2017 and 2021, citing violations of its statutes. The last suspension was lifted in June 2022, after the FIFA-appointed Normalisation Committee regained control over the federation’s premises and finances.

With the latest ban now revoked, Pakistan’s national teams and clubs can resume participation in FIFA and AFC competitions, paving the way for renewed growth in the country’s football scene.
