MUSCAT: The hallowed halls of Indian School Muscat (ISM) were alive with joy, nostalgia, and camaraderie on night of January 23, 2025 as the school hosted its 50th Year Global Alumni Reunion, the largest alumni gathering in its history. Over 300 alumni, accompanied by their families, travelled from 13 countries, representing batches from 1981 to 2024, to celebrate this incredible milestone.

For many attendees, this was a journey back in time, as some returned to Oman after more than 25 years, rekindling old memories and reliving cherished moments. The event highlighted the enduring bond alumni share with their alma mater, where the school’s legacy continues to thrive.

Principal Mr. Rakesh Joshi, in his heartfelt speech, described the event as a celebration of “brilliant minds, compassionate hearts, and great human beings” and thanked the alumni for their unwavering love and support. Reflecting on the school’s illustrious journey, he remarked, “ISM began its journey in 1975 with just 135 students and seven teachers. Today, it nurtures over 8,000 students under the guidance of 400 dedicated staff members. This reunion is a testament to the enduring legacy and spirit of ISM.”

Mukund Manohar, President of the ISM Alumni Association (ISMA) and an alumnus from the Batch of 2002, spearheaded the event, which was marked by heartfelt speeches, cultural performances, and a renewed commitment to giving back. In his welcome address, he expressed his gratitude, saying, “This evening is a celebration of not just 50 incredible years of ISM but also the friendships, memories, and achievements that connect us as alumni. ISM has shaped us, and it’s now our turn to give back.”

A key highlight of the reunion was the collective pledge by alumni to support the KINDLE Initiative, which funds scholarships for students from low-income families. Through this program, over 100 scholarships have already been provided, and the alumni expressed their commitment to expanding this impactful initiative.

The event featured vibrant performances by students and alumni, offering a blend of nostalgia and celebration. Guests had ample opportunities to reconnect, network, and capture cherished moments with their schoolmates. Attendees also had the opportunity to walk through the school’s corridors, revisiting classrooms, reliving memories, and witnessing the evolution of the institution that molded their formative years. The evening was filled with laughter, emotional reunions, and the joy of reconnecting with friends and the school that continues to inspire.

“Returning to ISM feels like coming home,” shared one alumnus. “Walking these halls brings back a flood of memories and reminds me of the incredible foundation this school gave me.”

As the evening concluded, Mukund Manohar extended his gratitude to the alumni for making the event a grand success. “To see so many Alumni from across the globe come together is overwhelming. This reunion is not just a celebration of our past but a promise for the future—to support, inspire, and give back to the school that gave us so much.”

The success of this monumental event was made possible through the unwavering support of the School Management Committee, the Principal, and the School Administration. ISMA extends its heartfelt gratitude to the school leadership and staff for their invaluable efforts in ensuring the reunion was a resounding success.

The ISM 50th Year Global Alumni Reunion was more than an event—it was a celebration of legacy, community, and a shared commitment to education. As ISM enters its next chapter, its alumni stand united, ready to continue the tradition of excellence and give back to the institution that has touched so many lives.
