DUBAI: The decision comes as part of a hybrid hosting model to navigate strained political relations between India and Pakistan, according to ESPNcricinfo.

The landmark resolution was finalized under the chairmanship of Jay Shah at the International Cricket Council (ICC). Pakistan, the official host of the tournament, will share the hosting responsibilities with the UAE, marking the first major decision for ICC events in the 2024-27 cycle.

India, grouped with Pakistan, Bangladesh, and New Zealand, will begin their campaign on February 20 against Bangladesh in Dubai. The much-awaited clash with arch-rivals Pakistan is scheduled for February 23, followed by a match against New Zealand on March 2. All three Indian matches are expected to be held in Dubai.

Defending champions Pakistan will kick off the tournament against New Zealand in Karachi on February 19. Their group stage will conclude with a match against Bangladesh in Rawalpindi on February 27. Other matches in Pakistan will take place at venues in Lahore and Karachi.

The second group includes Afghanistan, Australia, England, and South Africa. Semifinals are slated for March 4 and 5, with the first lacking a reserve day. If India reaches the semifinals, their match will be hosted in the UAE; otherwise, it will occur in Pakistan. The final, scheduled for March 9 in Lahore, will be shifted to the UAE should India qualify.

Additionally, the PCB has secured hosting rights for the ICC Women’s T20 World Cup in 2028 under similar neutral venue arrangements. Cricket Australia was also awarded hosting rights for one of the ICC senior women’s events between 2029 and 2031.
