MUSCAT : The event, held under His Majesty Sultan Haitham Bin Tarik’s directive, highlights the pivotal role of sports and youth development in Oman.

The His Majesty the Sultan’s Youth Cup serves as a cornerstone for fostering athletic excellence and community engagement across Oman’s sports clubs. This year’s competition saw participation from 44 clubs nationwide, competing across various sports and cultural activities. The Cup incentivizes clubs to achieve quality in governance, sports management, and youth development and also emphasizes the significance of citizenship and volunteerism in shaping future generations.
Key criteria for the competition include performances in football, hockey, handball, volleyball, and basketball leagues and individual and traditional sports at local and international levels. Clubs’ administrative and financial achievements, cultural activities, and community outreach also contribute to the evaluation. This approach aims to provide balanced development and reward clubs for fostering sports, intellectual pursuits, and community service.
