MUSCAT : The Parent Teacher Association (PTA) of ABA Oman International School hit a hole-in-one with their inaugural 18-hole golf scramble at the stunning La Vie Golf Course, Muscat Hills. The event brought together golfers from across Muscat and their families, exemplifying the inclusive and community-focused spirit of ABA.

The tournament featured both amateur and seasoned golfers competing in a team-based 18-hole scramble, fostering camaraderie and a shared passion for the sport. The format ensured that players of all skill levels had a chance to shine, with birdies, pars, and the occasional eagle met with enthusiastic cheers.

Craig Williamson, ABA Head of School, applauded the PTA’s efforts in organizing the event, emphasizing its significance for the school community. “This tournament showcases ABA’s pioneering spirit and our commitment to hosting events that bring our community together. Beyond the spirited competition, it symbolizes the bonds we share as a community and celebrates inclusivity, meaningful experiences, and relationships that make ABA truly special.”

Simon Walker, Assistant Head of School and High School Principal, and a passionate golfer, also participated in the tournament. “The beauty of golf is that it’s a game for all ages and abilities. Our ABA golf event brought together students, teachers, parents, alumni, and the wider community to celebrate the spirit of ABA.”

While golfers navigated the greens, the PTA organized a vibrant Family Fun Day that engaged the entire community. Activities included Zumba led by Natalia, yoga by Angela Ferguson, gymnastics and parkour sessions by Orion Gymnastics, and footgolf for children, blending soccer and golf in a fun twist.

Svenja af Trolle Velinder, PTA representative and lead event organizer, expressed her excitement about the event’s success: “Our goal was to create an event that embodied ABA’s spirit—uniting our global community, celebrating diversity, and offering something special for everyone. The incredible turnout and enthusiasm made this a truly memorable day.” She added, “We are deeply grateful to all the sponsors, our amazing PTA team, and dedicated volunteers whose efforts made this event such a remarkable success.”

Michael Kuhn, Associate Partner at Horwath HTL and ABA Board Director, praised the event, stating, “It’s incredible to see ABA leading the way as the first international school in the country to host a tournament of this scale. This event not only supports golfers within the school community but also strengthens connections with the broader golfing community in Oman.”

As the final putt dropped, participants celebrated more than just the leaderboard scores—they celebrated the connections forged and the memories created. The ABA PTA’s golf scramble and Family Fun Day underscored the school’s dedication to fostering a vibrant, inclusive community.
