MUSCAT : The challenging 110-kilometer race set off from Al Hamra, winding through its orchards and the picturesque Misfat Al Abriyeen village.

The event, organised by Al Dakhiliyah Governorate in partnership with the Ministry of Heritage and Tourism and the Ministry of Culture, Sports, and Youth, highlights the natural beauty and cultural heritage of Oman. It also promotes sports tourism, benefiting the local economy and offering participants a chance to experience the stunning Al Hajar Mountains terrain.

The race continues next Friday with a 55-kilometer segment starting from the Imti archaeological district in Izki. Runners will traverse the area’s orchards, ascend the Jabal Akhdhar paths, and pass through its picturesque villages, before finishing at Birkat Al Mouz after a 14-hour challenge. Additionally, a 20-kilometer race will take place on Friday evening in Birkat Al Mouz, where competitors will ascend nearly 500 meters, offering a unique experience compared to flat-route races.

The Himam Trail Run, which attracts over 4,000 participants across various categories, serves as a global sporting platform where athletes can test their physical and mental endurance in the rugged mountainous terrain. The event is a thrilling experience for adventure sports enthusiasts.

On the sidelines of the race, a five-day exhibition will showcase small and medium enterprises related to sports and nature, underscoring the synergy between sports, economy, and tourism in Oman. Additional races will be held on Friday evening, including 10 km and 5 km events for athletes over 18 years old.

Saturday’s events will be dedicated to children, featuring 1 km, 2 km, and 4 km races to encourage youth participation in sports.
