Oman’s banking sector sees strong growth as credit balances rise by 5%

Oman’s banking sector continues to demonstrate robust growth, with total credit balances rising by 5% to reach RO 32 billion by September 2024

Muscat: According to the latest statistics from the Central Bank of Oman, private sector credit witnessed a 4.2% increase, climbing to RO 26.7 billion. Non-financial companies secured the largest share at 45.2%. The individual sector followed closely with a 45% share, while financial companies and other sectors accounted for 6.3% and 3.5%, respectively.

Deposits also recorded significant growth, surging by 13.7% to RO 31.6 billion. Private sector deposits rose 12.7% to RO 20.7 billion. The individual sector dominated private deposits with a 50.2% share, followed by non-financial corporations at 29.5% and financial corporations at 17.8%. Other sectors contributed the remaining 2.5%.
