MUSCAT: A top Ministry of Health official has lambasted the “careless behaviour” of some people in ignoring health measures that led to the rise in coronavirus cases in the country.
Speaking in an interview with Oman TV, His Excellency Dr. Mohammed bin Saif Al Hosni, Undersecretary of MOH said: “This is just unacceptable behaviour. If you want to completely stop this virus, its in your hands. We are doing our best to communicate the message. They (people) have to be careful. Ignoring warnings and guidelines have led to increase in cases.”
In the last few weeks Oman has seen a surge in coronavirus cases, particularly among the Omani citizens. More than 7,500 Omani citizens have been infected with Covid-19 in the last 10 days.

According to Al Hosni, 104 people died in the last three weeks. “More than half of them are Omanis,” he informed.
“The epidemiological curve escalated in all governorates of the Sultanate, especially among Omanis. If this need to stop, we need to work together,” he added.
The total coronavirus infections in the country has reached 47,735.
