Muscat: Dr. Mohammed bin Saeed Al Maamari, Oman’s Minister of Endowments and Religious Affairs, met with Sheikh Dr. Mohammed Al Maamoun Al Qasimi Al Hassani, Minister of State and Dean of the Great Mosque of Algiers, to discuss ways to bolster cooperation between the two countries and enhance the cultural role of mosques in promoting values of tolerance, unity, and peace.

During the meeting, the ministers discussed their countries’ mutual interest in advancing the role of mosques as centers of intellectual and spiritual growth. Both leaders emphasized the importance of exchanging expertise, experiences, and research in endowment management and religious affairs, particularly developing mosques into institutions that foster community cohesion and coexistence. They acknowledged that these efforts are vital in enhancing the moderate Islamic identity that calls for peace and unity.

Sheikh Dr. Mohammed Al Maamoun praised Oman’s exemplary model in managing endowments and religious affairs, commending the Sultanate’s commitment to maintaining mosques as spaces of worship, education, and social awareness. Highlighting the role of Omani mosques in cultivating a generation grounded in values, he expressed Algeria’s eagerness to learn from Oman’s experience and to strengthen their shared mission of building peaceful, understanding communities.

The ministers concluded with a shared vision for ongoing collaboration, expressing aspirations for strategic partnerships to further deepen ties between Oman and Algeria. Both sides committed to maintaining continued dialogues to enhance the social impact of mosques as cultural beacons and to foster enduring bonds between the two nations.
