MUSCAT : The planned Topcon Solar Cell Plant will span 182,000 square meters within Sohar Free Zone, equipped to produce up to 10 gigawatts of solar cells. The project is set to be completed in two phases, each contributing 5GW, with an investment of $700 million split equally across the phases.
The plant will manufacture solar cells targeting Oman, GCC countries, and Europe, with feedstock sourced from China, Vietnam, and United Solar Polysilicon (SFZ).
Beyond solar cell production, the project is expected to stimulate further downstream development by creating a value chain for solar module manufacturing and also aligns with efforts to boost local manufacturing.
