MUSCAT: In a case reported from Muscat, a man was arrested on Monday for allegedly duping 56 women on the pretext of getting them jobs in an airline.

According to Royal Oman Police (ROP), the man who posed as the head of the recruitment department of an airline company created a fake account on a social media platform posted fake advertisements on jobs and solicited his victims by requesting for their CV and personal photos. “After luring them into sending indecent pictures, he would then move on to blackmailing them. Legal procedures against the person are being completed,” ROP said in a statement.

Police has urged the public to be cautious while dealing with anonymous people on social media. “While applying for jobs you need to ensure to deal with the official social media accounts of the company without being drawn into temptation presented by fraudsters,” the statement said.
