LONDON : Amorim, 39, currently at the helm of Sporting CP, will officially take over the reins at Old Trafford on November 11, after concluding his duties with the Portuguese club.

Manchester United confirmed the signing of Ruben Amorim as head coach, finalizing an €11 million compensation deal with Sporting CP. Amorim’s contract, which runs until June 2027 with an option for an additional year, marks a strategic shift for the club as it aims to build a fresh chapter under the leadership of one of Europe’s most promising young managers.

A former midfielder for both Benfica and the Portuguese national team, Amorim retired as a player in 2017. He began his managerial career in 2019 with Braga, quickly gaining recognition for his tactical acumen. His success at Sporting CP, where he arrived in 2020, includes two Primeira Liga titles and three Taca da Liga trophies, establishing him as a highly sought-after coach in European football.

Replacing Erik ten Hag, Amorim will make his managerial debut for United on November 24 against Ipswich Town. As a former teammate of Cristiano Ronaldo, Amorim’s deep roots in Portuguese football is expected to add a new chapter to United’s legacy.
