Oman to set up 200-bed field hospital to treat COVID-19 patients

MUSCAT: Oman will set up a 200-bed field hospital for the treatment and admission of COVID-19 patients, according to the Ministry of Health.

His Excellency Dr. Ahmed Al Saidi, Minister of Health issued a decision on Sunday to open a make-shift hospital.

According to the decision, the development head at the Minister’s office will head the team to open the hospital. “The work team will supervise the establishment, equipments and operation of a field hospital with a capacity of 200 beds for the treatment of people with COVID-19,” the ministerial decision said.

With rising coronavirus cases in the country, Al Saidi on Thursday indicated that the government will consider setting up a field hospital. MOH on Sunday registered 1,072 new coronavirus cases, taking the total infections in the country to 46,178.
