Muscat: Trade relations between Oman and Algeria have witnessed remarkable growth, with the trade volume reaching RO 37.9 million (98.4 million USD) by mid-2024. Omani exports dominate this exchange, valued at RO 37.3 million, while imports from Algeria into Oman amount to RO 509,272. The top Omani exports include iron ores, aluminum wires, and polyethylene terephthalate, with Algeria’s ship fuel oils, chocolate, and biscuits leading imports.
Beyond trade, Algeria ranks as a significant investment partner for Oman, boasting 262 registered Omani-Algerian companies with total contributions of approximately RO 6.75 million. These investments span sectors from motor vehicle repair and construction to education and professional services.
Strategic agreements over the years—covering air transport, tax policies, and cultural and educational cooperation—have set a strong foundation for this partnership. Notably, Algerian reforms in 2023 have fueled its industrial and agricultural growth, presenting Oman with increased opportunities for collaboration in manufacturing and agricultural sectors.
