MUSCAT : These amendments are outlined in the Ministerial Resolution No. 1/12/2024, and focus on revising the categories covered under the program.
H.E. Eng. Salem bin Nasser Al Aufi, Chairman of SPF Board of Directors, detailed the new eligibility criteria for disability benefits. Under the amended provisions, benefits will be granted to individuals who possess a disability card issued by the Ministry of Social Development and have a permanent disability, including:
- Autism spectrum disorder.
- Down syndrome.
- Mental disability with an IQ of less than 70, as per standardized testing.
- Visual impairment with a vision rate of 60/2 or less in both eyes, despite corrective measures.
- Hearing impairment with a threshold of 61 decibels or higher in both ears, despite corrective measures.
- Severe physical disabilities assessed based on job performance capabilities.
- Any other disabilities as determined by a decision from the Council, in coordination with the Ministry of Health and the Ministry of Social Development.
The resolution also outlines procedures for re-evaluation requests and conditions under which benefit disbursement may be suspended.
