Gold shines at record highs amid global uncertainty

Gold hits new all-time peak as investors seek safe havens amid geopolitical tensions and looming US elections.

MUSCAT : Gold prices soared to unprecedented levels today, driven by rising demand for safe-haven assets as global conflicts in the Middle East and the upcoming US elections stir uncertainty in financial markets.

Spot gold surged to a record high of $2,750.21 per ounce, before slightly easing to $2,749.82. U.S. gold futures also gained 0.2%, reaching $2,764.

Other precious metals saw mixed results. Silver dropped 0.5% to $34.67 an ounce, after previously reaching a decade-high of $34.87. Meanwhile, platinum edged up 0.5% to $1,033.88, and palladium followed suit with a 0.3% rise, closing at $1,078.72.
