MUSCAT: Legal measures have been taken against a petrol station in Barka after it charged customers the new fuel price of July hours before the time set for its implementation, the Public Authority for Consumer Protection (PACP) said on Wednesday.
The July fuel prices has seen a slight increase as compared to June. According to records, M91 in June was priced at 180 baisa per litre, M95 at 192 baisa per litre and Diesel at 217 baisa per litre. However, for July, M91 is priced at 189 baisa per litre, M95 at 200 baisa per litre and Diesel at 225 baisa per litre.
According to PACP, the fuel station implemented the charges four hours before the new prices came into effect. “We found that the fuel station priced customers the new prices (July) four hours before its date. We have arrested the violators and took legal measures against the fuel station,” PACP said in a statement.

The Public Authority for Consumer Protection asked fuel filling stations to respect laws that protect consumers rights and avoid malpractices.
