Muscat: His Excellency Abdulsalam bin Mohammed Al Murshidi, Chairman of the Oman Investment Authority (OIA), highlighted the significance of this event in the Authority’s quarterly newsletter, Achievement and Briefing, issued last August. He stated that Oman is on the cusp of hosting a major global event, with the IFSWF meeting being a testament to the Sultanate’s growing influence and investment potential.
His Excellency Al Murshidi noted that this forum in Muscat reaffirms Oman’s prominent standing on the world map and opens new horizons for economic integration. He emphasized that the event would promote investments contributing to the national economy’s development, creating opportunities for international cooperation.
Adding to the intrigue, Musk’s possible attendance comes in the wake of Royal Decree No. (42/2023), issued in June 2023, granting Starlink Muscat a first-class license to establish a satellite communications system. The Oman Investment Authority had previously acquired a stake in Musk’s SpaceX in 2021, solidifying Oman’s foothold in cutting-edge space technology and satellite communications. Muallem bin Bashir Al Jarf, Deputy Chairman of the OIA, hailed the acquisition as a strategic move to enhance Oman’s economic diversification and attract global investments.
