Foreign minister conveys His Majesty’s greetings to Brunei Sultan, holds bilateral meetings

H.E. Sayyid Badr bin Hamad Albusaidi, Minister of Foreign Affairs, conveyed the greetings of His Majesty Sultan Haitham bin Tarik to the Sultan of Brunei on the occasion of the country’s 40th anniversary of accession to the United Nations.

Muscat – The message was delivered during a ceremony held under the patronage and attendance of His Majesty Sultan Hassanal Bolkiah, Sultan of Brunei Darussalam, as part of the 79th session of the United Nations General Assembly.

In his address, H.E. Albusaidi extended Oman’s congratulations to the Sultan and the people of Brunei, while Sultan Hassanal Bolkiah entrusted him with sincere greetings and best wishes for continued progress and development in Oman, emphasizing the importance of strengthening bilateral relations.

Following the ceremony, His Excellency engaged in a series of meetings with foreign ministers from various countries. He met with H.E. Gabrielius Landsbergis, Minister of Foreign Affairs of Lithuania, where they discussed the existing friendly relations and explored opportunities for expanded cooperation in economic, cultural, scientific, and technological fields. They also exchanged views on pressing regional and international issues.



In a meeting with H.E. Luminica Odubescu, Romania’s Minister of Foreign Affairs, H.E. Albusaidi focused on enhancing bilateral ties and cooperation in education, culture, and the economy, while addressing common security challenges and the importance of dialogue for maintaining peace.

During his discussions with UNRWA Commissioner-General Philippe Lazzarini, His Excellency highlighted Oman’s unwavering support for humanitarian efforts regarding Palestinian refugees. He emphasized the need for urgent humanitarian aid to the Gaza Strip and praised UNRWA’s critical role in providing essential services to refugees.

H.E. Albusaidi also met with H.E. Bruno Rodriguez Parrilla, Cuba’s Minister of Foreign Affairs, to discuss the latest developments in bilateral relations and express their mutual interest in exploring new avenues for cooperation across various sectors.

Meetings with H.E. Casper Veldkamp, the Netherlands’ Minister of Foreign Affairs, and H.E. Hakan Fidan, Turkey’s Minister of Foreign Affairs, focused on enhancing bilateral cooperation, with particular emphasis on security, peace initiatives, and the ongoing challenges in the region.

Additionally, in a meeting with Abdulaziz Ibrahim Al-Mulla, Executive Director of the International Bank for Reconstruction and Development, H.E. Albusaidi discussed potential partnerships and financial cooperation programs aimed at promoting economic diversification and sustainability in Oman.
