Muscat: Nike’s board has officially named Elliott Hill as the company’s next CEO, a role he will assume on October 14. Hill, who began his career at Nike as an intern in 1988, will succeed John Donahoe, taking the helm of the world’s most iconic sportswear company. As Hill steps into the CEO role, he is tasked with turning around Nike’s declining sales and battling competitors like On and Deckers’ Hoka, which have been chipping away at Nike’s market share.

The internet can’t stop talking about Hill’s incredible career trajectory. A recent post on X by influencer Joe Pompliano (@JoePompliano) showcased Hill’s LinkedIn profile, capturing his rise from intern to CEO over more than three decades. The post, which has garnered over 1.9 million views, praised Hill’s journey as “the best LinkedIn profile ever,” with many users expressing admiration for his loyalty and dedication.

Hill’s 32-year journey with Nike included a series of key leadership roles. After joining post-grad school in 1988, Hill became the team sports division director in 1998. Before being named president of geographies and sales in 2013, he held various vice president positions. Although Hill retired in 2020 as president of consumer and marketplace, his return to Nike comes with a compensation package worth $27 million, including equity, cash incentives, and long-term performance-based rewards.
