Muscat – The SPF has initiated disbursement of the Family Income Benefit to 79,000 families registered in the first phase of the program. These cases, previously under the Ministry of Social Development, will now receive financial support as the benefit replaces traditional social security pensions.

The SPF stated that its mission is to provide comprehensive social protection to sustain a decent life for society. It aims to ensure that every individual has access to necessary support systems, while providing a foundation for a dignified life.

Families eligible for the Family Income Benefit will also receive retroactive payments for prior months, ensuring that no beneficiary is left behind. The government has announced that registration for additional eligible categories will open in October, allowing more families to access this crucial financial assistance.

This initiative is part of Oman’s broader efforts to strengthen its social safety net and improve the economic stability of vulnerable households. The Family Income Benefit aims to provide direct support to families in need, enhancing their ability to meet essential needs.

Eligible families can apply online for the benefit, which will be disbursed directly to their bank accounts. The initiative is expected to have a significant positive impact on the lives of beneficiary families by helping them meet basic needs and reduce financial stress.

The existing social security pensions will eventually be replaced by the Family Income Benefit, which offers a higher level of support.
