ITALY: Mohsin bin Hani Al Bahrani, Chairman of the Board of Directors of Al Amerat Sports and Cultural Club said in an official post on X, “We are certain that sport should be a means of understanding and cooperation between peoples, and not a tool to support or promote practices that conflict with human rights.”
The presence of the Israel team in the tournament prompted the club’s decision to forgo participation despite the potential penalties imposed by the International Federation of Football Association (FIFA).
“We are committed to supporting the Palestinian cause,” he said while acknowledging the consequences of their withdrawal. The club reaffirmed its dedication to finding alternative opportunities to represent the Sultanate in future championships.
