Muscat – Leading local and international consultancy firms are invited to compete for this crucial contract, which involves site selection studies, masterplan, design and supervision for the planned airports at Jabal Akhdar, Masirah Island, and Suhar. These strategic locations, chosen for their tourism potential and economic importance, are expected to play a pivotal role in enhancing connectivity and driving growth in their respective regions.

The deadline for submitting final bids for this tender is October 7, 2024.
The announcement for bids follows a recent statement by H.E. Eng. Naif bin Ali Al Abri, Chairman of the Oman Civil Aviation Authority, who disclosed plans for a total of six new airports. To be developed over the coming five years, the ambitious project aims to improve air connectivity, stimulate tourism growth, enhance logistics, and foster investment in key regions across Oman.
In addition to the airport projects, the CAA also plans to license a new low-cost carrier. This move, the second of its kind following SalamAir, is expected to further boost domestic tourism by improving connectivity to various tourism destinations within the country.
