Oman’s ports handle over 5,000 ships in first half of 2024

The Ministry of Transport, Communications, and Information Technology has reported substantial operational activity across the Sultanate of Oman’s ports during the first half of 2024.

MUSCAT : According to the Ministry, Oman’s ports welcomed a total of 5,133 ships, underscoring a strong maritime traffic and the ports’ growing significance in international trade and logistics.

The operational data for the first half of 2024 reveals:


• Volume of General and Bulk Cargo: 49,759,641 tons
• Number of Livestock: 2,539,844
• Number of Containers: 2,160,395 TEU (Twenty-foot Equivalent Units)
• Number of Vehicles: 45,238 units
• Number of Tourists: 293,268
