Muscat: According to the Central Bank of Oman, credit extended to the private sector jumped 3.4 per cent to RO 26.3 billion. A closer look at sector-specific allocations reveals that non-financial companies snagged the largest slice of the pie, accounting for 45.2 per cent. Individuals followed closely with a 44.8 per cent share. Financial companies and other sectors made up smaller portions, at 6.4 per cent and 3.6 per cent respectively.
Deposits also enjoyed a robust growth spurt, increasing by 11.6 per cent to RO 30.7 billion. Private sector deposits saw a significant rise of 14.8 per cent, reaching RO 20.7 billion. Within this deposit pool, individuals hold the largest share at 51.8 per cent, with non-financial corporations and financial corporations claiming 29.6 per cent and 15.6 per cent respectively. The remaining 2.9 per cent is spread across other sectors.
