MUSCAT : Sohar Free Zone has inked a $2.5 million land lease agreement with Ideal Plastics, a Free Zone company. The agreement paves the way for the establishment of a 6,000-square-meter plastic food packaging production facility. This plant is set to produce 190 tonnes of packaging materials annually, with a focus on key markets such as Kenya, Tanzania, and South Sudan.
The investment not only aims to tap into these growing markets but also enhances Sohar Free Zone’s position as a major hub for industrial activity. By utilizing local raw materials, the project will strengthen the local supply chain, stimulate economic growth, and diversify export opportunities, ultimately contributing to the resilience and sustainability of the regional economy.
