MUSCAT : This initiative, in line with the royal directives of His Majesty Sultan Haitham bin Tarik, is set to commence from the academic year 2024/2025.

The Ministry is currently working with the National Subsidy System (NSS) committee to establish an online platform on the NSS website. This platform will allow domestic scholarship students to submit their applications for the allowances.

Eligibility for these allowances is determined by family income levels in accordance with the current standards used for qualifying for electricity subsidies, which is set at 1,250 Omani riyals per month based on family size.

The monthly allowance amount will be based on the distance between the student’s current residence and their educational institution. Students residing within 50 kilometers of their university will receive RO 45, while those living more than 50 kilometers away will receive RO 90 per month.

Once all preparations are complete, the Ministry will announce the activation of the application link on the NSS website. Students are advised to stay updated with announcements from the Ministry to ensure they can submit their applications promptly.
