MUSCAT : Eng. Amer bin Hamid Al Shibli, Director General of the General Directorate of Agricultural Wealth, Fisheries, and Water Resources in South Al Batinah, highlighted the diverse fields these opportunities encompass, ranging from poultry and dairy to honey and agricultural production. He emphasized that these ventures are vital to ensuring food security across Oman.

Land plots have been secured in collaboration with the Ministry of Housing and Urban Planning to host these projects, including those focused on raising local breeds of sheep and goats. Additionally, new opportunities will soon be available to establish a center for buying and selling fodder, as well as projects catering to equestrian enthusiasts and organic farming investors.

Eng. Al Shibli also revealed plans to create an integrated centre with training workshops aimed at empowering rural women by developing their products. In the fisheries sector, investment prospects include fish farming projects intended to support the local market. Moreover, opportunities will arise in the water sector for establishing water factories and rehabilitating existing facilities, such as the dates factory and bee research station in the Wilayat of Rustaq.

The Director General noted that significant progress had already been made, with contracts signed in 2022 and 2023 for several key projects. These include mango farms and a dates packaging factory in the Wilayat of Barka, as well as a bee museum, soil-enhancing fertilizer production facilities, and seedling projects.
