Muscat: The Directorate General of Commerce, Industry, and Investment Promotion in Dhofar Governorate has rolled out a foundational program dedicated to the implementation of program and performance-based budgeting. This initiative, conducted in collaboration with Oman’s Ministry of Finance, saw the active participation of specialists from both the Directorate and regional offices across Dhofar.
The program delved into the intricacies of program budgeting, emphasizing its benefits, expected outcomes, and the steps necessary to align with the Sultanate of Oman’s model. Participants were introduced to the process of setting up sub-programs and activities and the crucial task of formulating goals, results, and performance indicators.
A key component of the training was reviewing mechanisms for drafting the annual budget for programs and performance, adhering strictly to the guidelines outlined in the annual financial circular. Additionally, the program highlighted the importance of financial performance control indicators and how these can be effectively tracked within government units to ensure optimal outcomes.
