Muscat – The international meeting, held from August 12-16, 2024, in Montreal, Canada, focused on creating a global mechanism for benefit-sharing, including the potential establishment of a global fund.
Following the first meeting in November 2023, which addressed key issues and proposed discussions on contributions, fund disbursement, and governance, the second meeting reviewed elements of a multilateral benefit-sharing mechanism, analysed draft recommendations, and studies on revenue-generation options and intersessional reflections.
