Muscat: On a high-level assignment from His Majesty Sultan Haitham Bin Tarik, His Highness Sayyid, Deputy Prime Minister for International Relations and Cooperation Affairs and Special Representative of His Majesty the Sultan, participated in the third virtual Leaders’ Summit of the Voice of the Global South, which was held today under the chairmanship of the Indian Prime Minister, with the participation of a number of heads of state and heads of government.
In his speech, His Highness stressed the need for cooperation in light of the world’s diverse and severe challenges that affect its security and stability. In recent years, political and economic turmoil and armed conflicts have increased regional tensions. Sustainable solutions to these challenges can only come through dialogue, cooperation, and joint action to consolidate international peace and security pillars.
His Highness stated, “The Palestinian issue requires a just and fair stance by this group and the rest of the international community, affirming the right of the Palestinian people to self-determination and the establishment of their independent state on their land, to achieve peace and stability in the region, which has suffered from the repercussions of this issue and the continued illegal Israeli occupation of Palestinian and Arab lands since 1967, Israel’s violation of all relevant UN resolutions, its disregard for international law and international human rights standards, and its violation of international humanitarian law.”
