Abu Dhabi: Etihad Rail aims to set new standards in sustainability with the introduction of its Sustainable Finance Framework, designed to align future financing with environmental, social, and corporate governance (ESG) goals. This initiative supports the UAE’s Climate Neutrality Strategy 2050 by promoting green transportation, sustainable building practices, and pollution reduction.
Developed in collaboration with First Abu Dhabi Bank and Standard Chartered Bank and confirmed by Det Norsk Veritas as meeting global standards, the framework incorporates key elements such as green loans and bonds. It ensures that proceeds, project evaluation, management, and reporting adhere to international sustainability standards.
The framework is aligned with the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals and aims to foster positive environmental and social outcomes. By enhancing environmental risk assessment, increasing transparency, and accelerating the transition to a sustainable financial ecosystem, Etihad Rail aims to make a significant impact.
