MUSCAT : Latest weather report indicating that a low-pressure system in the Arabian Sea will affect the Sultanate of Oman from today, July 30, 2024, through August 2, 2024.

Starting this evening, the Sultanate of Oman will experience the impact of a low-pressure system from the Arabian Sea, as reported by the National Multi Hazard Early Warning Center.

Tuesday and Wednesday Evening: Clouds are expected to move over most of Oman’s governorates, with cloud formation likely in the afternoon and evening over the Al Hajar Mountains and nearby areas. Starting tonight, South Al Sharqiyah will see isolated rain and thunderstorms, potentially extending to the coasts of Al Wusta and parts of North Al Sharqiyah and Muscat. Dhofar’s coastal and mountainous regions will continue to experience drizzle and isolated rain.

Thursday and Friday: Cloud advection and formation will continue, with isolated rain and thunderstorms expected over the coastal areas of South Al Sharqiyah and Al Wusta. Cloud formation will persist in the afternoon and evening over the Al Hajar Mountains and surrounding areas. Drizzle and isolated rain will remain over Dhofar’s coastal and mountainous regions.

Expected impact:
Rainfall between 10-25 mm may lead to the flow of some wadis.
Fresh downdraft winds with speeds of 27-60 km/h could move unstable objects.
Reduced horizontal visibility during thunderstorms and dust rise due to downdraft winds.
Rough sea conditions along the Arabian Sea coast, with waves reaching up to four meters.
