PARIS: The Basel-Mulhouse EuroAirport announced on its website that it had to evacuate and close its terminal for safety reasons, with further updates to follow. This security measure added to the travel woes already affecting thousands due to the rail network sabotage.

French authorities reported “criminal” acts of vandalism, including arson, that paralyzed the high-speed train network. The attacks caused major disruptions to travel plans, impacting hundreds of thousands of passengers heading to Paris from across France and Europe.

These coordinated attacks come amid heightened global tensions and rigorous security preparations for the 2024 Olympic Games.
