MUSCAT : Muscat Governorate and the Oman Convention and Exhibition Centre have inaugurated the “Sports Spark” event. The opening was marked by a media meeting attended by His Excellency Ahmed bin Mohammed Al Humaidi, Chairman of Muscat Municipality, and Engineer Saeed bin Salem Al Shanfari, CEO of the Oman Convention and Exhibition Centre.
The “Sports Spark” event is designed to enhance the benefits of summer sports for individuals and groups across society. It offers a diverse range of activities catering to children, youth, and families, providing a new and enriching experience that aligns with Muscat Governorate’s goals of boosting recreational opportunities through effective private-sector partnerships.
The event aims to serve as a hub for health and fitness, drawing families and athletes together and offering a platform for emerging sports talents. It features various popular sports such as football, basketball, volleyball, challenge and ability sports, and mental skills development, all housed within a fully equipped, safe, and entertaining environment.

His Excellency Ahmed bin Mohammed Al Humaidi, Chairman of Muscat Municipality, emphasized the significance of the event, stating that the ‘Sports Spark’ event is supervised by the Ministry of Culture, Sports, and Youth and includes several different sports that are popular among different youth groups. It provides all the requirements to create an enjoyable and entertaining sports atmosphere and ensures all means of safety, enhancing the event’s success.
Engineer Saeed Al Shanfari, CEO of the Oman Convention and Exhibition Centre, highlighted the Centre’s ongoing efforts to remain a dynamic venue throughout the year. “We seek to transform the centre into a vibrant place through such events that offer a variety of sports activities and promote a healthy lifestyle and activity throughout the summer,” he said.
