Muscat – The details of the international events were unveiled at a press conference held to launch Dhofar Municipality’s October 2024 sports tourism initiatives.
Speaking at the occasion, Dr Ahmed bin Mohsen al Ghassani, Chairman of Dhofar Municipality, pointed out that the rebranded Ironman 70.3 is a major event that is eagerly anticipated by athletes worldwide. It marks the beginning of a several sporting events scheduled for the winter season, including Dhofar Municipality Race, Salalah Half Marathon, ‘She Runs’ and the ‘Iron Kids’ race.
Muhammad bin Khalfan Al Obaidani, CEO of Triathlon Middle East Company, expressed his enthusiasm, saying, “We are honored to hold this competition, which is part of the famous Ironman series in the Sultanate of Oman, specifically in the Hawana Salalah Tourism Complex. This edition will provide all athletes with the opportunity to showcase their performance and prove their talent in a truly world-class venue.”
This year, the Ironman 70.3 Triathlon in Salalah will see participation from 500 athletes representing 56 countries. Among them, 40 competitors will vie for qualification spots for the Ironman 70.3 World Championship in Spain in 2025.
