MUSCAT : The Career Guidance and Student Counseling Centre at the Ministry of Education will open 34 centers to support General Education Diploma graduates (12th grade students) in modifying their study preferences and programs. The centres will be operational from July 24 to August 4, 2024, and students can access services via the Unified Admission Centre’s website at the Ministry of Higher Education, Scientific Research and Innovation.
These technical support centres aim to provide graduates with essential guidance from supervisors and career guidance specialists. The centres will offer necessary information regarding the selection and arrangement of specializations and university programs offered by higher education institutions. Additionally, they will address inquiries related to registration processes, admission procedures, and updates on vacancies and program requirements.
The centers are strategically located across various governorates, equipped to accommodate the expected number of students, ensuring easy access. For example, Muscat Governorate will have centers in the Education Departments in Seeb and Qurayyat. South Al Batinah Governorate will host centers at the University of Technology and Applied Sciences in Rustaq and Al Musannah, and at Abdullah bin Wahab School for Basic Education (10-12).

North Al Batinah Governorate will see centres in the Vocational Guidance Department in the General Directorate of Education building, as well as several schools, including Umm Jaafar Al Tayyar Basic Education School (5-9) and Maryam bint Imran Basic Education School (10-12). Other governorates like Al Dakhiliyah, South Al Sharqiyah, North Al Sharqiyah, Al Dhahirah, Al Buraimi, Musandam, Dhofar, and Al Wusta have also designated specific locations for these support centres.
This initiative continues the efforts of career guidance specialists who have equipped students with the skills to shape their educational and professional futures since the start of the academic year. By utilizing global theories in career guidance, these specialists help students discover their inclinations, professional abilities, and personal styles, enabling them to plan effectively for their university specializations and career paths based on sound scientific principles.
