Muscat: The Ministry of Transport, Communications, and Information Technology will launch a major Omanisation initiative in January 2025, aiming to allocate a significant number of jobs exclusively to Omani citizens.
This initiative, set to run until the end of 2027, aims to strengthen the Omani workforce and align with the government’s Vision 2040.
His Excellency Engineer Saeed bin Hamoud Al Maawali outlined that the Ministry’s Omanisation goals 2024 are 20% in the transport and logistics sector and 31% in the communications and information technology sector. These targets will be continually reviewed and adjusted through comprehensive plans to reach 100% Omanisation by 2040.

The initiative will see specific jobs, particularly those currently dominated by expatriates, being phased out for non-Omanis. The targeted Omanisation percentages for the transportation and logistics sector will start at 20% to 50% in the first phase in 2025, gradually increasing to 100%. This will cover maritime, air, and land transport fields, including administrative, specialized, and support roles.
In the communications and information technology sector, the Omanisation target will range from 50% to 100% by 2026.
Additionally, the Ministry is implementing policies to support self-employment and ensure that local companies assigned projects worth more than RO 3 million will contribute to local added value starting in 2025.
