MUSCAT: Oman has no plans to immediately restart international flight operations in the wake of coronavirus (Covid-19) outbreak, Minister of Transport has confirmed on Thursday.
Speaking to the media, His Excellency Dr. Ahmed Al Futaisi has clarified that the aviation industry needs to be restructured before allowing regular flight operations to the country. “There are no immediate plans to open skies for international airlines. We need to first restructure before doing anything of that. And any such decisions will be informed officially,” he said.
According to the Minister, if decisions are taken on airports, domestic flight operations will get first the preference before allowing international flights.

Oman’s airports are all closed since March due to the Covid-19 outbreak in the country. Currently, repatriation flights are only allowed to operate from Muscat International Airport and Salalah Airport to carry stranded passengers
