Indian among six killed in Oman’s Wadi Kabir shooting incident, confirms embassy

MUSCAT: An Indian national has lost his life in the tragic shooting incident in Oman’s Al Wadi Al Kabir area on Monday night, the Indian Embassy in Muscat has informed.

In a statement issued, the Embassy also confirmed that another Indian national was wounded during the incident.

Meanwhile, the Royal Oman Police (ROP) along with military and security services have announced the conclusion of operations in response to the shooting incident that took place on Monday evening in the Wadi Kabir area of Muscat Governorate.

In a statement issued, the ROP said: “The incident resulted in the death of five individuals, the martyrdom of one policeman, and the killing of the three perpetrators. Additionally, 28 individuals of various nationalities were injured, including four from the Royal Oman Police and Civil Defense and Ambulance Authority who were performing their national duty. The injured have been transferred to healthcare Institutions for treatment, and the investigation and inquiry operations into the circumstances of the incident are ongoing.

“The Royal Oman Police extends its condolences and sympathy to the families of the deceased, wishing a swift recovery for the injured.

“The Royal Oman Police also expresses their gratitude and appreciation for all national efforts and the cooperation of citizens and residents, which contributed to containing the situation.

“The Royal Oman Police emphasizes the necessity of obtaining information from official sources and disregarding unreliable information.”
