Muscat – These factories are providing value-added fish products, contributing to sustainable development, a diversified economy, and enhancing innovation in the fisheries sector, in alignment with the aspirations and objectives of Oman Vision 2040.

The Ministry of Agriculture, Fisheries, and Water Resources confirmed that Oman is witnessing remarkable progress in the fisheries industries sector. This sector is crucial for achieving food security and efficiently exploiting fish resources. The Ministry highlighted that the fisheries industries are one of the fundamental axes of the fisheries sector due to their importance in ensuring food security.
Out of the 114 fish factories, 81 have been granted a fish quality control and export certificate. This certification ensures that processed fish products adhere to international standards of quality and safety, thereby enhancing the reputation of Omani fish products and opening up export opportunities to global markets.
The fish manufacturing activities in Oman encompass a wide range of projects, including the preparation, packaging, and freezing of fish fillets, canning fish, and the production of various food products from aquatic resources. These products include fish burgers and fish fingers, among others, catering to both local and international consumer needs for fish products.
