Muscat – The Public Authority for Special Economic Zones and Free Zones (OPAZ) has awarded the Central Platform for Investor Services Project. This Project aims to provide comprehensive governmental and operational electronic services within the economic, free, and industrial zones overseen by OPAZ, streamlining access to all necessary services for investors.

This platform is a strategic step on the road to develop digital infrastructure to meet sustainable development goals and further help Oman’s economic zones and free zones be chosen as trustworthy and sustainable investment destinations.

Through the platform, investors can access all required services. This platform will be upgraded in order to be integrated other national government service platforms managed by the government bodies.

Mahmoud bin Hamoud Al Rawahi, Director General of the Planning and Information Technology Sector, explained that the platform will serve as a single point of access for investors seeking electronic services related to their investments. It will produce centralized statistics and facilitate the verification of KPIs in the areas under OPAZ supervision.

Al Rawahi added that the platform will integrate systems and electronic channels related to investor services, enabling seamless linkage between government-provided services and operational services within the zones. This integration will streamline the follow-up and governance of service delivery, reduce financial and administrative burdens, and minimize the risk of data loss associated with paper files.

The quality of services provided to government investors in the zones under OPAZ supervision will be enhanced by transparent service requirements and expedited service procedures.

The platform is part of OPAZ’s digital transformation plan to enhance investor services. It aims to reduce the time and effort required for service provision, allowing investors to complete procedures without the need for physical visits to service centers. Clear requirements and expedited procedures will improve the quality of government services provided to investors in OPAZ-supervised areas.

Since its establishment in September 2020, OPAZ has implemented various measures to develop investor services in the zones, positioning the Sultanate of Oman as a premier investment destination.
