MUSCAT : This initiative aims to unite global efforts in supporting climate action while highlighting Oman’s commitment to a zero-emission future.

The week-long program will feature a series of activities aimed at achieving the 1.5°C target set at COP29; it will focus on collaboration between governments and sectors to reduce the impact of climate change.
H.E. Dr. Abdullah bin Ali Al Amri, Chairman of the Environment Authority, stressed the need for urgent climate action. He emphasized the importance of expanding investments to combat climate change, adopting measures in financing, adapting to climate impacts, reducing emissions, phasing out coal, and implementing carbon pricing. These efforts are crucial to safeguarding the environment for future generations.

Key themes of Oman Climate Week include climate change mitigation, adaptation, investment finance, carbon markets, climate technologies, loss and damage, and social inclusion. Oman’s strategy focuses on transitioning to renewable energy and scaling up solutions to achieve decarbonization, aligned with Oman Vision 2040 and its National Climate Change Adaptation and Mitigation Strategy.

Oman Climate Week will serve as a platform for global industry leaders, policymakers, and innovators to showcase progress, collaborate on climate change mitigation, and explore opportunities in Oman and the MENA region.
