MUSCAT : This action aligns with the CPA’s ongoing efforts to curb violations by sellers and suppliers and seize prohibited goods.

As per a statement from the CPA, judicial control officers observed a significant number of consumers visiting a shop in Ruwi, which prompted them to set up an ambush for the violators by requesting electronic cigarettes through a specified delivery method.

In collaboration with the Royal Oman Police and the Public Prosecution, a raid was conducted on an apartment belonging to the institution, resulting in the seizure of 7,622 electronic cigarettes and their accessories, including batteries, filters, and artificial flavoring solutions.

Investigations revealed that the products were promoted and sold through the institution’s website and orders placed via WhatsApp, with deliveries made either directly or to locations near the store.

A violation and seizure report was issued, and the confiscated items are set to be destroyed in accordance with legal procedures. This action violates Resolution No. 756/2023, which prohibits the circulation of electronic cigarettes, hookahs, and all their accessories.

The Authority affirmed its commitment to intensifying market monitoring to protect consumer health and safety, and it urged consumers to report any violations through various communication channels.
