Muscat: The state of Duqm is renowned for its breathtaking natural attractions, including beaches with soft, clean white sand framed by rock formations that resemble carved natural umbrellas. Engineer Abdullah bin Salem Al-Hakamani, Director of the Technical Affairs Department in the Special Economic Zone at Duqm, highlighted that the region offers over 2,500 rooms in accommodations ranging from one- to four-star hotels to luxury and regular hotel apartments and residential units.
Al-Hakamani also noted preparations for the influx of tourists during the autumn season, including new road openings and clear signage to guide visitors to key attractions. Local businesses are also gearing up to meet tourist needs, ensuring a seamless and enjoyable stay.
Currently, the Duqm Special Economic Zone is undertaking tourism projects worth more than RO 2 million, alongside extensive infrastructure development such as main and secondary roads, electricity and water services, and drainage channels. A dual coastal road is also being constructed to serve the tourist area and fishing port, complemented by a re-planning of the tourist zone to align with modern urban planning standards.
